Samsung’s latest innovation in the kitchen is to bring internet connectivity front and center, with features that just make sense.  They are showing off a brand new 8 inch screen that they have mounted into the face of a wide range of Samsung refrigerator models.  The screen is a very responsive touch screen interface that has a bunch of very useful apps already loaded and ready to go.  What’s more is that they have included 2 built in speakers right below the screen and a SD card slot.samsung refrigerator

Right at the beginning you can use a wide range of apps to touch base with family, friends and information that will help you plan out your day.  Use can use the Samsung refrigerator screen to access your Google calendar to view your schedule.  Pull up the memo pad, and you can leave notes to your family members or use it to start a grocery list as you find things that you need.  It’s all right there at your fingertips on your Samsung Refrigerator door.

Trying to figure out what to make for dinner?  If you need a few ideas, there is a app for that!  The Epicurious app ties right into the monstrous Epicurious site, where you can find thousands of recipes and ideas for just about any meal you can dream up.  All that you have in the Samsung refrigerator is chicken and some mushrooms?  Just search online for recipes that have chicken and mushrooms and the site will offer up quite a few options.  No more having to run into the other room to use the computer to find what you need.

Samsung Refrigerator: Weather at your fingertips

Busy in the morning getting the kids ready for school and breakfast served, but you need to find out what the weather is going to be like?  Just pull up the WeatherBug weather app.  You’ll know right away how to dress the kids for their day.  Once you get them off to school, you can check the latest news headlines using the AP app.  Or even better, bring up the Pandora music app and crank up the music and enjoy it through 2 built-in speakers just below the screen.

You even have the ability to view pictures from Picasa web albums or you can even insert a SD card just below the screen to view images right from the camera.  You can even send pictures to the screen from your mobile phone.

And finally you can even access your Twitter account from the screen.  Send out your latest tweets as you’re heading out the door.

So you can see it’s something that’s new and exciting being brought into the kitchen that will hopefully provide you another way to keep organized and connected.  In today’s connected world, it just another step in that direction.
